inverse variation equation

Question

the value of y varies inversely with x and y=-2 when x=4 what is the equation

I beleive that it is y=-8x but want to make sure I am right

y=k/x

-2 =k/4

k=-8

y=-8/x or y =(-8)/x or -8x^-1

IF y varied directly with x, then the equation would have been y=-8x

but inversely varying puts x in the denominator.
