8C +8M = 200

8(9+M) + 8M =200

72 + 8M + 8M = 200

16M = 200-72 = 128

M = 128/16 = 8 mph = Manuel's speed

C = 8+9 = 17 mph = Chance's speed

8(8+17) = 8(25) = 200 miles
