I’m confused on this

Miranda works 40 hours Per week. Usually she spends 1/2 of her time answering the phone and talking to customers. this week she spent an extra 1/8 i’ve hard time answering the phone and talking to customers. How long did she spend on those tasks this week?

usually she spends 1/2 of 40 hours on the phone & talking

= 20 hours

this week she spent 1/8 more time = 1/8 times 20 = 20/8 = 2 1/2 hours

20 + 2 1/2 = 22.5 hours this week
