How many liters of a 20% acid solution should be mixed with a 60% acid solution to produce 200L of a 44% acid solution?

please solve it by using two variables x and y and by using substitution method

20x + 60(200-x) = 44(200)

20x -60x = 8800-12000

40x = 3200

x = 3200/40 = 80L of 20%

200-x= 120L of 60%

mix to get 200L of 44%

44 is closer to 60 than to 20, so you need more of 60%

44-20 = 24, 60-44 = 16. It's 16/24 = 2/3 = 80/120
