supplies from the same store. Stefan spent $77 on 3 rose bushes and 8 pots of ivy. Ted spent $91

on 9 rose bushes and 4 pots of ivy. What is the cost of one rose bush and the cost of one pot of

ivy?

9r + 4p = 91

9r +72p = 77(9)

subtract 2nd from last equation to get

68p = 77(9)- 91

p = (77(9)-91)/68 = about $8.85 for a pot of Ivy

r = (77-8(8.85)/3 = about 77/3 -23.61 = about 28.33 -23.61 = about $4.72 for a rose bush
