A Sus chords is neither minor nor major. Often a Sus chord refers to a Sus4 chord meaning a chord built on scale degrees 1, 4, and 5. In the key of C major, this would be C, F, and G. These chords can be found in Classical music in chord progressions like I - IV - Isus4 - V7 - I or C - F - Csus4 - G7 - C. For counterpoint purposes, you hold the F from the chord F major over to Csus4 and G7 then resolving to E in the final C chord. This F is not in a C major chord so holding it for three chords builds tension to resolve it to the C chord.
Sus chords can also be found in jazz music and pop music. They are used often as dominant chords like Csus7. This mean C - F - G - Bb. This give more of a floaty sound as opposed to a crunchier sound with the straight up C7.
