help !! this is an algerba question

The handyman went to the store to buy 3 hammers and 4 saw blades and spent $12.00. He went back to buy 2 more hammers and two more saw blades and spent $7.00. What is the cost of a hammer? What is the cost of a Sawblade?

3H + 4S = 12

2H + 2S =7

multiply 2nd equation by 2 and subtract 1st equation from that

4H + 4S = 14

3H + 4S = 12

H = 2 = $2 for a hammer

2S = 7-2H = 7-4 = 3

S = 3/2 = $1.50 for a saw blade
