An adult female gorilla is 1/4 meters tall when standing upright. Her daughter is 3 tenths as tall. How much more will the young female gorilla need to grow before she is as tall as her mother?

The daughter is 3/10 as tall as her mother. She needs to grow 7/10 the height of her mother to be the same height, since 3/10 + 7/10 = 10/10 or 1 or 100% or fully as tall.

Thus, we need to know what 7/10 (or 0.7) OF 1/4 (or 0.25) meter is. When you see OF in a math expression, translate it to multiplication. Thus, you can express your problem in one of two ways. Solve either one of the expressions, and you will have your answer. I will let you do the solving. The answer will be in METERS.
