Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
solve each equation for y, then set them equal and solve for x
x=4y-8
4y = x+8
y = x/4 +2
(1/2)x +y = 11
y = -(1/2)x + 11
set the 2 expressions for y equal to each other
x/4 +2 = (-1/2)x + 11
(1/2)x + x/4 = 11-2
3x/4 = 9
x = (4/3)(9) = 12 is the x coordinate where the lines intersect
y=-(1/2)(12) + 11 =-6+11 = 5 is the y coordinate where they intersect
(12,5) is the point where the lines intersect
