she runs 3 2/3 laps around the track in the morning

she runs 4 3/4 laps around the track in the afternoon

Let's break up your problem.

3 2/3 laps + 4 3/4 laps.

what is 3 + 4 (take out the fractions) equal to?

now add the fractions

2/3 + 3/4 laps

change 2/3 to 8/12 and change 3/4 to 9/12 and add them you get 17/12 which is 1 5/12

add the 7 and what do you get....

What's the issue? Do you not know how to add fractions?

3 2/3 + 4 3/4 = 3 8/12 + 4 9/12 = 7 17/12 = 8 5/12 laps
