The weight of the marbles (let's call it m) is the weight of the jar of marbles (lets call it j) minus the weight of the empty jar (let's call it e). Like this:
m = j - e.
So the weight of the marbles is 474 grams - 439 grams, which is 35 grams.
Now, since each marble weighs 5 grams, you divide the total weight of the marbles (35 grams) by the weight of an individual marble (5 grams) to get the number of marbles.
35 grams / 5 grams = 7 marbles.
So there are 7 marbles in the jar.

You're right, my subtraction was off and it's been edited from 5 to 7. Good catch. The process I described is still how you get it though.01/13/21
