Since the pizza costs twice as much as the magazine, you could trade two magazines for a pizza.
The question said that one pizza and one magazine costs $9.75, so that would be the same as buying three magazines (if you traded the pizza for two magazines.)
$9.75 divided by 3 is $3.25 per magazine. The pizza would then be double the price of the magazine, or $6.50.

let x be the cost of the magazine
then 2x is the cost of the pizza
if you add the costs together you get $9.75
so x + 2x = $9.75
3x = $9.75
x = $3.25
so pizza cost = 2x = 2 * $3.25 = $6.50

The pizza cost is $3.25

This is incorrect. The magazine cost is $3.25. The pizza is double that, $6.50.12/22/20
