Hi Ara,
You will be happy to know that the rhetorical analysis essay outline is not that different from most other essay types: it includes an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
- Introduction
In your introduction, you will tell reveal the subject of the essay to your readers, and will also tell them why the literary work is so significant that it is deserving of a rhetorical analysis.
Then, you will need to announce your thesis statement. The thesis statement is usually included at the end of the introduction and clearly states the author’s opinion regarding whether the writer of the speech or literary work was successful in getting his message across to the audience.
- Body paragraphs
In most cases, you will have at least three body paragraphs in your rhetorical essay. The biggest thing to remember here is that every paragraph should be dedicated to a separate idea, and all paragraphs should be connected by a logical flow.
With rhetorical analysis, some prefer to dedicate one paragraph to ethos, one to pathos, and the last one to logos. You can choose your own way to organize the information in the paragraphs, but a clear structure is essential for the success of your paper.
- Conclusion
The conclusion may be the last and sometimes smallest part of the paper, but it's still important in order to serve you some good. The purpose of the introduction is not only to wrap up your analysis, but to encourage additional thinking from the audience.
Remember to give a brief summary of the main ideas and points from your body paragraphs before restating your thesis statement and offering your final evaluation.
Hope this helps!
