A party rental company has chairs and tables for rent. The total cost to rent 5 chairs and 2 tables is $27. The total cost to rent 3 chairs and 8 tables is $74. What is the cost to rent each chair and each table?

5C +2T = 27
3C + 8T = 74
multiply 2nd by 5, and 1st by 3, then subtract
15C +40T =370
15C +6T =81
34T = 289
T = 289/34 = $8.50 for a table
3C = 74-8(8.5)
C = (74-68)/3 = 6/3 = $2 for chairs
