Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
in 5 years Stella will be twice Ted's age
in math symbols with s =Stella's current age and t = Ted's current age that's equivalent to the following
s +5 = 2(t+5)
s= -5 +2(t+5) =-5 +2t +10 = 2t +5
s = 2t +5
currently Ted is 3 years younger
t = s -3
substitute to eliminate 1 variable:
s = 2(s-3) +5 = 2s -6 +5 = 2s-1
s = 1 year old now
t = -2 = 2 years before Ted has been born
this is a weird, non realistic problem or more likely a typo somewhere or misprint
in 5 years Stella will be 1+5 = 6, Ted will be -2+5 =3, then 6 will = twice 3
even with SCOTUS' Dodd, they only pushed ages back 9 months, not close to 2 years before birth
