Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
10x +46y = 6450 $10 for adults $46 for kids (that may be a typo as kids' prices are usually less than for adults, so maybe it's really $4.60 for kids or the reverse 10 for kids, 46 for adults??)
x+y = 725
46x +46y = 46(725) subtract 1st equation from that to eliminate y as a variable
leaving 36x = 46(725) -6450= 33,350-6450= 26,900. x=26900/36=747.222...
x = 46(725)/36 - 6450/36 = 747 2/9, which is more adult tickets sold than the total number of tickets sold 725. there's a problem with the problem, somewhere, along with a fractional ticket of 2/9
reversing 14 and 46 doesn't help either
try $4.60 for kids' price
10x + 4.6y = 6450
x +y = 725
4.6x + 4.6y = 4.6(725)
subtract
5.4x = 6450 - 4.6(725 = 6450-3335 = 3115, x = 3115/5.4 = about 617.6. better but the fractional ticket is still a problem
