write the equation of a line that passes through (4,3) and is perpendicular to y=-1/2x+1

Vero N.

To find the equation of a perpendicular line, you first need to find the negative reciprocal of the slope given. The slope is -1/2 , so the slope of the perpendicular line would be 2. Now we just need to find the y intercept using the point (4,3). You can plug in the coordinates in and then solve for b. Here's what it'll look like: y=2x+b (From here, we'll plug in the coordinates) 3=2(4)+b (As you can see from 4,3, 4 is the x so it goes next to the 2 and 3 is the y so it goes in replacing the y.) 3=2*4+b (We're multiplying 2 and 4.) 3=8+b (Now, we have to subtract 8 from 3 to find the y-intercept.) -5=b (And now we know, the y-intercept it -5) So, now lets plug in all of our information. y=2x-5 Hope this helped you! (Please also know I'm not an expert but I am good with this kind of algebra and this answer is correct.)
