Tyler has $9.70 in dimes and quarters. The number of quarters is eight more than four times the number of dimes. How many of each coin does he have?

q = 8 + 4d, number of quarters = 8 more than 4 times the number of dimes
total value = $9.70
25q + 10d = 970
25(8+4d) + 10d = 970
110d = 970 -200 = 770
d = 7 dimes
q= 36 quarters
