9x -2x^2 +12x^3 - 108x^2 +243x = 20x-90

combine like terms

12x^3 -110x^2 +232x +90 = 0

6x^3 -55x^2 + 116x+ 45 = 0

either factor, use the cubic formula or graph it

x = about -0.3, and exactly 5 and 4.5 4.5 is a false extraneous solution. cubic formula is complicated and difficult to use, virtually unknown too.
