Let m be the amount of money Pablo has
he uses (5/12)m to buy caps. The remaining amount would be (7/12)m. He used only 3/7 of this remaining amount to buy 3jackets. (Hint- of means multiply)
cost of 3 jackets = (3/7)*(7/12)m
when you simplify you get
cost of 3 jackets = (1/4)m
Divising by 3,
cost of 1 jacket = (1/12)m
with this amount you can buy 5 caps because 1 jacket costs as much as 5 caps
Cost of 5 caps = (1/12)m
Dividing by 5
cost of 1 cap = (1/60) m
pablo used (5/12)m to buy caps. Divide that coat by the coat of 1 cap to get the total number of caps
number of caps= (5/12)m / (1/60)m
solving you will get 25
ans is 25
check work
you can check your work by assuming Pablo had $120 to begin with, and you’ll find that cost do caps is $2, and cost do a jacket would be $10.
