Consecutive numbers mean they are in order, like when counting. For example, 10,11,12,13,14 would be five consecutive numbers that add to 60. You can solve this by guessing and checking your answer. You can also solve this using Algebra. To solve using algebra, use x for the first integer, therefore the 2nd integer would be x + 1, the third would be x + 2, etc..
x + (x+1) + (x+2) + (x+3) +(x+4) = 120
5x + 10 = 120
5x = 110
x = 22
Therefore the 5 numbers are 22 , 23 , 24 , 25 , 26 so the 3rd number is 24.
