y= 16/7 that's the correct answer to the problem as you've literally written it

but maybe you really meant (8/7)y -2/5 = 1/10 then

y = (1/2)(7/8)

y = 7/16

a lot of people seem to write (8/7)y as 8/7y leaving out a needed parentheses
