how do i factor out the coefficient of the variable?
1/3b-1/3 is the problem i am trying to answer
------
What is the definition of a coefficient?....the number next to the alphabet character....
1/3b - 1/3......the number is 1/3....so 1/3 is the coefficient....
This coefficient is common to both terms in this expression.....so....we can divide both terms by this value...
1/3 (b -1).....we factored out the 1/3 from each term....the coefficient 1/3 was "factored out" of the expression....
1/3 (b - 1).....Do you understand this solution?
If you multiply 1/3 by each term you get your original expression.... 1/3b - 1/3....Right?
