if you mean (x-7)(x-4) =0 there's two positive solutions, 7 and 4
but if you really did mean (x-7)x - 4 = 0
then solve x^2 -7x -4 = 0
x = 7/2 +(1/2)sqr(49 +16) = 3.5 +.5sqr65 = the one & only positive solution
= about 7.53113
by graphing x= 7.53113... x intercept of the parabola
impossible to factor so give up on that method
or there's trial and error method, by Descartes rule of signs there's 1 + zero, and 1 - zero
try integers x=1, y = -10 not 0
x=2,3,4,5 6 or 7, y <0
x=8 y = 64 -56-4 = +4
y changes sign between x=7 and 8, so solution is 7<x<8, closer to 8 which is 7.53113...
