"10 + x" is the same as adding x to 10.
"5 more than 10" is same as adding 5 to ten.
If those two quantities are the same, then x and 5 must be the same. So 2x must be 10.

Hmmm... I assumed that 2x meant 2 times x. But maybe when they said "2x" they meant the two digit number starting with 2 and ending with x???
