There are 3 consecutive integers. Double the sum of the first and second number is equal to 16 plus triple the third number.
X, X+1, X+2.....3 consecutive integers
2(X+X+1) = 16+ 3(X+2).....use the keywords.....like "sum" and "equal" and "consecutive" to grab the math facts.
Make sure you understand and agree with how we translated the math facts above from the word problem.
...rewrite the facts in simplified form by evaluating expressions and combining like terms.....like so...
2 (2X+1) = 16 + 3X + 6
4X + 4 = 16 + 3X + 6 ......subtract 3X from both sides.....and.....subtract 4 from both sides....
X = 18

correction......4x+2 = 16 + 3x + 6....subtact 2 from both sides....subtract 3x from both sides...we have X=20......so we have 20, 21, 22...check your work.....2(20+20+1) = 16 + 3 (20 + 2).......82 = 82...that checks...09/22/20
