If 60% prefer bagels and there are 120 students, then we would need to calculate what 60% of 120 is. To do this I like to work in 10's because its a bit easier to work with. In this case I would say what's 10% of 120, that answer is 12. I would then say well I need 6 times that 10% since we want to know 60% not 10%. I would then simply multiply 12 by 6 and get the correct answer of 72. Hope this helps.
