First to answer this question we must manipulate the given equation into slope intercept form.
y=mx+b
where m is the slope and b is the y intercept.
So for this problem that would be:
2y-4x=10
add the 4x to both sides
2y=4x+10
and divide both sides by 2
y=2x+5
Now we need to find the perpendicular slope. To do this we simply find the opposite reciprocal of the given line's slope.
For this equation that would be:
m= -1/2
We are also given a set of coordinates as well and we know that b is equal to the y intercept so we simply plug the y coordinate of the given set of coordinates in as b.
That leaves us with a final equation of:
y= -1/2 x -1
