I find it easier to differentiate by writing the function using a negative exponent:
z(y) = Ay-11 + Bey
So, using the power rule:
z'(y) = -11y-12 + Bey
(Notice that differentiating Bey doesn't change it)
Of course you can re-write it without the negative exponent as:
z'(y) = -11/y12 + Bey
