Hi Roxanne
This expanded form show what each digit in the standard for is worth. Recall your place values, and plug the numbers into the proper places.
For example: Given the number 369,
We know that 9 is in the Ones column
6 is in the Tens column
3 is in the Hundreds column
Your problem can be broken down into
Hundreds + Tens + Ones decimal(.) + Tenths + Hundreths +. Thousandths
4×100 + 7×10 + 6×1 + 6×(1/10) + 3×(1/100) + 7×(1/1000)
Plug your numbers into the correct place value and you will have your standard form
Hundreds = 4
Tens = 7
Ones = 6
Don't forget the decimal after the ones and before the tenths.
Tenths =6
Hundreths = 3
Thousandths = 7
= 476.637
