One of the ways to graph is to use the slope-intercept formula which is y = mx + b.
The letter m represents the slope value and the letter b is the y-intercept.
For y = 3x + 2, the slope is 3 and the y-intercept is 2.
On a graph with x-axis and y-axis, locate the point (0, 2). Mark this with a dot.
The slope is 3, which should be considered as 3/1 for graphing purposes.
Begin at the point (0,2) and count upward 3 units, then go the right 1 unit and plot that point.
The coordinates of the second point should be (1,5).
We need one more point to draw the line that represents this equation.
At the second point, go up 3 units and then go to the right 1 unit. Plot this third point.
The coordinates should be (2,8).
Using a straight edge, line up the 3 points and draw a line that extends beyond the given points. The ends of this line should have the arrow type markings to indicate it is a line, not a segment.
