Question

If you can buy five steaks for 34.95.... how much can you buy for 25.00 . Then rewrite the equation to reflect the change in steak price.

34.95 / 5 = 6.99 each...

25 / 6.99 = 3.5765379....

so you can buy 3 whole steaks and half of another...

you can also do it this way by setting up the proportion:

34.95 25

------- = ------------

5 ?

solves by cross multiplication:

34.95 * ? = 25 * 5

? = 25 * 5 / 34.95

= 3.5765379113018597997138769670959‬
