A land conservancy in California organizes several fundraisers every year. One year, the board of directors for the conservancy suggests raising money by offering tours of their nature preserve for a price of $50 per person. They believe they can attract more people if they offer group discounts of $1 per person. So if two people go on the tour, they will charge $49 per person (for a total of $98); if three people go on the tour, they will charge $48 per person (for a total of $144), and so on.
