Let's use some variables:
L=total # lemonade
p=total # peanuts
Let's make an equation for "sold 5 more cups of lemonade than bags of peanuts" or in other words the number of peanuts is 5 less than lemonades -> p=L-5
For "earned $7.05" means that the money made from peanuts (0.35p) and lemonades (0.75L) -> 0.35p+0.75L=7.05
Since we can only solve for one variable at a time, let's substitute 5+L for p since p=5+L
0.35p+0.75L=7.05
0.35(L-5)+0.75L=7.05
Distributing give you 0.35L -1.75+0.75L=7.05
Combine like terms 1.1L-1.75=7.05
Add 1.75 from both sides +1.75 +1.75
1.1L=8.8
Divide both side by 1.1 1.1L/1.1=8.8/1.1
L=8
