3/5 * 4 1/7 + 2/5 * 10 = 6 17/35

By the way, note that your answer is less than 4 1/7 (and, of course, 10). Does that make sense?

Why this answer should appeal to you: if we asked for what was 2/5 of the way from 5 to 10, you would say 7. If we asked what was 2/5 of the way from 4 to 9, you would say 6. Thus, you could actually have solved this multiple choice question without even calculating by seeing that the value had to be between 6 and 7.
