To find the solution to this problem, you will have to use the order of operations, otherwise known as PEMDAS. While using the order of operations, you follow the rules of the order the operation is presented.....Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication/Division and Addition/Subtraction.
The problem is 18 + (2÷2) × 5
First - you will solve the equation inside of the Parentheses. (2÷2) = 1
The new problem you will get is 18 + 1 x 5.
Since there are no exponents in this equation, the next step is Multiplication/Division. 1 x 5 = 5
The new problem you will get is 18 + 5.
The last step is Addition/Subtraction. 18 + 5 = 23.
The solution is 23.
