This is very important for you to learn since, unlike somethings taught in school, you WILL use this very often when buying items! Sales tax is an extra charge. This charge is a percentage of the cost of the item you are buying.
Convert the 7.5% sales tax to a decimal. You can do this by moving the decimal places to the left by two places. The result is this .075
So now multiply the tax (.075) by the cost of the item ($3.50).
.075 * 3.50 = .26
This is the amount of extra charge from tax you will need to pay.
