Question

The manufacturing process requires that oil refineries manufacture at least 2 gallons of gasoline for each gallon of fuel oil. To meet the demand for fuel oil, at least 3 million gallons per day must be produced. The demand for gasoline is not more than 6.4 million gallons per day. If the price of gasoline is $2.90 per gallon and the price of fuel o is $2.50 per gallo, how much of each should be produced to maximize revenu?

Answer 1

x = gasoline

 

y = fuel oil

 

x>=2y

y >=3,000,000

x <= 6,400,000

 

Both x and y would have to be greater than 0.  You will graph these and find their points of intersection.  After that you will plug each in to the equation below and figure out which has the max revenue.
