Taught high school Algebra I & II three years and SAT MATH PREP 2 yrs
Let W = Width
Let 2W = Length since the length is twice as long as the width
Area = 50 square meters
Area = Length x Width = (2W) (W)
(2W) (W) = 50
(W) (W) = 25 Dividing both sides by 2.
W^2 = 25
W = 5 Taking the square root of both sides.
So, the WIDTH of the rectangle is 5 meters.
The LENGTH of the rectangle is 2W = (2)(5) = 10 meters
The PERIMETER = 2L + 2W = (2)(10) + (2)(5) = 20 + 10 = 30 METERS
CHECKING:
Area = LW = (5)(10) = 50 square meters
Perimeter = 10 + 5 + 10 + 5 = 15 + 15 = 30 meters
Hope this helped Gracie.
