Well, the elimination method has substitution in it as part of the solution process..
The equations are multiplied by different but compatible numbers so that one of the
vars cancels when the equations are added together. Then the surviving variable is solved.
Once solved, it is SUBSTITUTED back into one of the original equations to find the other vars.
So one of the similarities is they both involve substitution in the solution process.
