I got 16√3 - 3.
The first step is to distribute √3 throughout the parentheses to give:
9√3 - 3 + 7√3
Now, you simply add 9√3 and 7√3 to get 16√3, leaving you with:
16√3 - 3.
Something I've always found helpful when explaining how to add square roots:
9 apples + 7 apples = 16 apples.
9x + 7x = 16x.
9√3 +7√3 = 16√3.
