Not sure how to convert to square yards

Question

Tara’s pool is 50 yards in length and 20 feet in width. How many square feet is

the pool? How many square yards is the pool?

Square yards is a unit of area.

In order to find area you need to multiply the length by the width

In your case you need to multiply the length of the pool by the width of the pool

50 yards x 20 yards= 1,000 square yards

The reason it is square yards instead of just being yards is because multiplying something by itself make it a square. Just as 2x2 is 2 squared and yard times a yard is a square yard.
