To me, what it looks like you're asking about is subtracting the two functions:
(f - g)(x) = f(x) - g(x) = 3x + 5 - (9x - 2)
= -6x + 7
If this is the case, then the slope is -6.
But if what you really need to know is function composition, (f o g)(x), then you need to do:
(f o g)(x) = f(g(x)) = f(9x - 2) = 3(9x - 2) + 5
= 27x - 6 + 5
= 27x - 1
If so, then the slope is 27. Hope this helps!
