The cube is cut into 3 parts by 2 cuts parallel to one of its faces. What would be the total surface of the 3 parts?

Hi Young,

Each cut described will produce two new surfaces each with the same area as one face of the cube. The uncut cube has 6 faces, so 2 cuts makes 4 more faces for a total of 10 faces. The new total area will be 10 times the area of one face.
