Janie, this is the same as an old problem from years ago: make an improper fraction.
whenever you have a + (b/c), you can put everything over the same denominator by multiplying the whole number (in this case, a) by the a fraction made of the desired denominator over itself ( in this case c/c )
In other words, change
a + b/c
into a*(c/c) + b/c
and then write it all over the denominator
(ac + b)/c
Now put the values 5, 11, and 17 in that formula for a, b, c, and you’ve got the mixed number represented as an improper fraction.
