The data management toolbox pertains to tools which help you develop, maintain, and organize your various types of geospatial data (feature classes, feature datasets, shapefiles, file geodatabases, rasters, etc.)
Certain tools which I personally find useful that are in the data management toolbox is the Joins and Relates tool. This allows you to, for example, pair a table of data with a geospatial feature class layer (e.g. a polygon) based on a related field. This essentially "enriches" the polygon with more attribute information which it then stores.
As far as data analysis goes, the options seem endless. There are a variety of analysis tools offered depending on your goals and the type of data you are working with. To start, the more fundamental toobox is the Analysis toolbox. This provides basic geoprocessing capabilities such as buffer, calculate statistics, and extract. This provides data manipulation which is pretty powerful.
