d = k/t^2 d= distance fallen, t = time fallen, k = constant of proportionality
would be the usual meaning of inversely proportional
but
d = -16t^2 +ho is the usual formula for a falling object = it's height which is inverse to time t
if ho = 0 = initial height, then
d = -16t^2 = distance traveled down, negative sign means down
d/t^2 = -16 = k = constant of proportionality 1/t^2 = square of inverse of t = (1/t)^2
