I will be conducting a study about spatio-temporal analysis of traffic crashes with respect to time of the day, what are the best methodologies for this study? I'm planning on using QGIS or ArcGIS
I recommend the following geospatial analysis methods in ArcGIS (the names might be different in QGIS):
Hotspot analysis - identifies statistically significant hot spots and cold spots using the Getis-Ord Gi* statistic. This analysis only considers the location of the data to identify patterns.
Emerging hot spot analysis - identifies trends in data, such as new, intensifying, diminishing, and sporadic hot and cold spots. This analysis uses the location and time of the data to identify patterns.
