Find the mean and median number of movies that the students saw.

median = average of the two middle numbers (10+17)/2 = 27/2 = 13 1/2 = 13.5

mean = AM =arithmetic mean = sum/n = (10+8+8+17+17+20)/6 = 80/6= 13 2/3 > median, but not by much

rounded to nearest tenth mean = 13.7

or maybe you meant GM, HM Geometric Mean or Harmonic Mean, then different answers

GM = 6th root of ((10(8)8(17)17)20)) = (3699200)^(1/6)= about 12.4

HM = GM^2/AM = about 11.6

AM>GM>HM always, so if you want a low mean go for HM, highest mean = AM
