Those explanations are way too complicated. The student should realize that most likely he's working with a 3x4x5x triangle since the answer needs to be an integer. I'd start with 3,4,5 and see if that worked then move on to 6,8,10. No need to spend tons of time doing the Algebra, that's exactly what the ETS wants test takers to do.
